About Us

My Story

Hello! I am Shani Simonds, Owner/Operator of Wolf's Den Inn & sPaw. I am lifelong Seward resident. Growing up in Alaska offers a number of opportunities, but the most influential for me is being able to be outdoors enjoying Alaska's majestic views.

I enjoy hiking and most outdoor activities; soaking up the views with my three dogs. Mia (aka mia bia pup), my 3 year old 90+ lb. Alaskan Malamute. Anubis (aka Nooby dooby doo), my 13 year oldGreat Dane/Lab Mix. Our newest pack member is little miss Billie Jean (aka billie willie) who is a 1 year old tiny almost 15 lb. Frenchie/Min Pin mix.

When I was 8 years old I found my passion for dog mushing and love of Alaskan Huskies. However brief this period in life was I can tell you it was extremely enlightening. As most know huskies are a breed unto themselves. Their unique personalities helped to shape my love of all K-9's and provided a basis for learning to communicate with them.

My mother first introduced me to dog grooming through her home business. I was able to help with her clients and learn several grooming techniques. These skills have been honed over the years, though I am not at expert level yet.

For the last three and a half years I have been working for my brother, Travis Beals, and his partner Sarah Stokey at Turning Heads Kennel. They own a dog mushing tour operation where you can take a tour of the kennel, meet all the amazing K-9 athletes, and take an amazing rollercoaster type kart ride. I performed a variety of jobs here at the kennel including gift shop customer service, projects manager, kennel manager, tour guide, and all dog care. Taking care of 60+ huskies is a lot of work but so much fun. Loving this job so much gave me the inspiration to pursue my passions and create my own business.

I am looking forward to meeting all the fur babies and pawrents out there!!
